Amasiko Youth Care Association And The Community

Whe Amasiko begun, the locals thought they had gotten employment opportunities for the various activities. They also thought that Amasiko was to be a hotel or something. Whenever their help was requested, the natives offered high prices for their services mainly because a white man(muzungu)was around,if you know what I mean!
To solve this problem, the Amasiko organised a meeting to enlight the natives of Hamukaka village where Amasiko is located about its aims.
The meeting took place after Amasiko had bought two jerrycans of local porriage(obushera)so as to entice the locals to attend.

THE STATE OF AMASIKO

Amasiko which means hope in Rukiga is located at a peninsular at beautiful lake Bunyonyi Kabale district in South western Uganda is a youth care association. The association targets disadvantaged youths, especially school drop outs who have no hope for the future. Many youths in the area get married at a very tender age of 16 since they no longer have school to attend.

In the past years, many young people have been getting training from Amasiko in agriculture,to help them improve on their life skills and a bright future. Amasiko presently is still facing the challenge of early marriages, which is caused mainly by poverty. These parents think that marrying off their daughters at an early age will bring them riches through bride price! The association was started by five girls who had bad hopeless pasts and took it upon themselves to uplift up others so they too could see the light(hope). To help others, I, among the five, has attended a workshop about Web Empowerment so Amasiko could get more ideas on how to assist others.
